Safety and standards

Experiencing elements of risk in a managed way can bring many benefits for young people and adults.

With our professionally qualified and highly experienced staff and robust safety procedures and policies, we are able to provide you with that experience in a safe and managed way. The safety and welfare of everyone who comes to White Hall is our priority.

The centre is approved through the Adventure Activity Licensing Scheme (AALS) to deliver outdoor activities. The license indicates and assesses that the centre has been inspected with attention paid to our safety management systems and that we work to nationally accepted standards of good practice.

Our License number is: L11917/R0088 More information can be found by visiting the AALA.

All of our instructors at White Hall are highly qualified with a breadth and depth of experience of working in outdoor education. We will do everything we can to ensure the experience you have here will be safe, educational and fun in a caring environment.

All of our staff are first aid trained and have enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance (DBS).

Risk Assessments

The management of risk is fundamental to everything we do at White Hall. We have written risk assessments for each activity in advance and then all of our instructors are highly skilled at continuously managing risk throughout the activity.

If you have any queries, please contact the Head of the Centre who will be pleased to discuss things with you.

As well as this we are regularly inspected by Derbyshire County Council Health and Safety Team, which ensures that our buildings, food and fire procedures conform to the county’s high standards.

Equipment

All specialist equipment for every activity is provided by White Hall. This equipment is regularly inspected, tested and replaced as necessary.

Course Programmes

Before your course starts we will have planned a programme in consultation with you. However we are able to be flexible with what we do and when – each morning our staff will meet to discuss weather conditions, locations to be used, the activity and needs of the group and make a decision based on these to ensure safety.

Transport

We have four minibuses which are owned by Derbyshire County Council. These undergo regular safety checks and servicing in line with DCC guidelines. If we ever need to hire one we use a DCC approved provider. All drivers have passed a minibus driving test.
